Mobile Physiotherapy & Allied Health — The Ponds

In-home allied health for The Ponds and surrounds — physio, OT and speech pathology. Paediatric, NDIS, adult and aged care.

The Ponds is one of the newer suburbs in the Hills District — a lot of households where the kids are pre-school or primary, a lot of mums in the first few years postpartum, and a lot of new NDIS plans that haven’t had their first review yet. Most of our Ponds work is paediatric, postnatal, or both.

Castle Hill clinic is about twelve minutes south, with the mobile team covering The Ponds and the rest of the Stanhope-Schofields-Quakers Hill corridor six days a week.

Early intervention for kids — start sooner rather than later

A pattern we see often in The Ponds: a parent has been worrying about their child’s development for six months, has asked the GP a couple of times, and has been told to "wait and see." Sometimes that turns out to be the right advice. Sometimes the six months were the early-intervention window that closed.

Coming in for an assessment isn’t a commitment to ongoing therapy. Many of our first paediatric assessments end with "your child is tracking fine, here’s some context, come back if anything changes" — and we mean it. The cost of being wrong about a six-month wait is much higher than the cost of an assessment that says everything’s OK.

Working with The Ponds primary schools and preschools

Several local primary schools and preschools across The Ponds and the surrounding new estates are happy to host short therapy sessions or teacher consultations. For kids whose goals are about classroom participation, transitions or playground skills, that context is more useful than a clinic appointment.

When we visit a school, we don’t expect teachers to run therapy sessions. The goal is a brief observation, a short conversation, and a one-page strategy sheet a busy teacher can actually use. The classroom changes that move the needle are usually small — predictable transitions, a quiet desk option, a visual cue at the right moment.

NDIS funding and how it works for under-9s

For children under 9, NDIS funding usually flows through Early Childhood approaches. The intake conversation can feel bureaucratic for a tired parent. We can walk you through it — what the line items mean, what the first plan usually looks like, how to prepare for the planning meeting, and what to expect at the first plan review around 12 months in.

FAQ

Common questions from The Ponds families

How young can my child be for a first paediatric assessment?

We see children from around 12 months for physiotherapy, and from around 18 months for speech and occupational therapy. Younger than that, we’ll usually point you to a paediatrician first.

My GP said wait and see — should I still come in?

If you’re wondering, yes. An assessment will either confirm the GP’s reassurance with detail, or it will surface something worth working on. There’s no downside.

Can both my kids be seen the same day?

Yes — we can usually schedule back-to-back appointments for siblings. The therapy might be from different clinicians depending on the disciplines needed.

I’m postnatal too — can I see a women’s health physio while my child is at therapy?

Yes, sometimes. We can arrange the same household to be seen on the same visit when scheduling allows.
